This upcoming Sunday marks the second time The gunners and united have played eachother this season, the first,a most forgettable 8-2 drilling by the red devils themselves. If you read my last post, you will have seen me rambling on about the lack of passion I see out there on the pitch as of late. As I type this in on my iPhone, I sit on my couch watching Arsenal vs Manchester United from May 1st of last year at the Emirates. Vidic just had a blatant hand ball off a beautiful cross from Theo Walcott. Had Vidic led with his head instead of his hand, the ball would have sailed on through, straight to the head of Robin Van Persie. The Dutchman would have smashed that past Van Der Sar and made it 1-0 to the Arsenal. The thing is, though, the referee (unsurprisingly so) didn't see the hand ball to begin with. Moments before then, our young Jack Wilshere was fouled in mid field. No foul was called. As Fabio runs off with the ball, Jack grabs his right ankle and drags Fabio to the ground. The reason for bringing this up isn't to ponder on what could have been, but it is a golden example of what has been missing this season; passion. Watching this game continues to blow my mind. Each and every player in the red and white is fighting for their club. They are fighting for their pride. They are fighting for the win. The tempo is fast paced, the aggression is a treat to watch, and the quality of football being portrayed is so high I can't take my eyes off the match. I hope each and every Arsenal player and supporter, and especially Arsene Wenger himself are all tuned into this match and taking notes. The intensity, pace, intelligence, aggression, pride, and yes, passion we showed that day almost a year ago is what we need to show week in week out. That is how you play football, and that is how you win.
